Laser Eye Correction Surgery With AccuVision Laser Eye Clinics

As most who have seen pictures of me will know, I wear glasses.  Often I’m told that they suit me, but I hate wearing them.  I would love to not be able to wear them, but in total honesty, I can’t not-I literally can’t see without them!

Often I’ve thought about laser eye surgery, but that’s as far as it goes really, I don’t really know enough about it, it scares the living daylights out of me, and I worry about the expense.

Recently, I actually found out more about the laser eye correction process-and I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised!

AccuVision

AccuVision are a laser eye clinic team specialising in LASIK eye correction-their surgery is available in their London, Birmingham and Leeds clinics.

The surgery itself doesn’t actually take that long-only a few minutes per eye, and the company say that they expect there to be no pain from the procedure!

This surprises me-I genuinely thought it would hurt SO much!

The Procedure

Laser eye surgery uses thermally cool beams of light (a laser) to correct your vision. These beams of light are directed at the clear layer of your eye known as your cornea. The cornea is responsible for focusing light on the tissue at back of your eyes (called the retina). The light is then sent to your brain and translated into what you see.

Laser eye surgery targets the vision imperfections in the cornea, reshaping it so that your eye can focus light on your retina in the correct way and improving your vision as a result.

As with any procedure, there are advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages of LASIK laser eye treatments:

  • Highly predictable/accurate optical outcomes after LASIK laser eye surgery
  • Minimal post-operative discomfort
  • Rapid visual rehabilitation following LASIK eye treatment
  • Wide range of treatable prescriptions (depends on factors such as corneal thickness, corneal shape)
  • Minimal risk of scarring

Possible disadvantages of LASIK laser eye treatment:

  • Small risk of complications involving the corneal flap
  • Not appropriate to perform LASIK eye surgery on eyes that may be bio-mechanically compromised

The Cost

The cost can vary from patient to patient, depending on different factors, which will be discussed at an initial consultation with you when you request to meet with AccuVision.
