James And The Amazing Gift-Book Review

jamesHere at Mayflower Blogs, we love a book or seven to read at bedtime!  The book we were sent from author Nicola J. Rowley didn’t actually make it to bedtime though, as Miss Olivia was waving it in my face to read to her, the second we walked through the door after picking it up from the post office.

James and the Amazing Gift is all about a little boy-called James funnily enough!
James has this incredible gift, all to do with his smile.  He smiles all the time, even in his sleep-and has the ability to make sad people smile too!  One day, James meets a lady who needs him to help her smile more than anyone has had to before.

A beautiful story about a little boy who just wants to make people happy, this book has the additional charm of raising funds for Contact The Elderly, a UK charity which tackles loneliness amongst older people.

With an incredibly moving plot, and lovely illustrations, the message to other children (and moody adults) to use their happiness and smiles to make others happy is adorable.

Nicola J. Rowley
was born in Basildon in Essex.  She has been a journalist, a radio newsreader, a TV producer, a reporter AND a photographer specialising in children and families, weddings and commercial imagery.  Finally, she has been able to follow the dream she had as a young girl, and released this book “James and The Amazing Gift.  This won’t be Nicola’s only publication though-as she has several more pre-school books, aimed primarily at the 3-7 year-old market, on the way!
