Mayflower Blogs were sent ‘Monkeys on a Plane‘, a flight time story from Emirates.
(They also sent a banana guard-which has generated a lot more interest from my children than I thought it would!)
Created by award winning author-illustrator duo-Sarah McIntyre and Philip Reeve, ‘Monkeys on a Plane’ is based on a story of the same name by 4 year old, Maddison Penney.
It tells the story of Enrico the monkey, who lives in Brazil. Fed up of living in the forest with his brothers and sisters, Enrico decides to head off on an adventure.
After sneaking onto an Emirates plane, Enrico lands in the Seychelles, and heads off to have fun on a beach, but, after a fun filled day of making friends with a crab and building sandcastles, he starts to miss his family back in Brazil. Hitching a ride back on another Emirates plane, Enrico is welcomed back by his Mother-who is so pleased to see him!
My Son read this adorable story to my Daughter. They spent so much time talking about the pictures throughout the book, which in all honesty are really very cute!
At the back of the book when the story has ended, is a step-by-step guide on drawing your own Enrico!
There are also opportunities to draw your own monkey, and a comic strip-and the final page is for the reader(s) to draw a map-to show where their monkey has been on their adventures!
‘Monkey on a Plane’ is available from for families to download and read from the Emirates Flight Time Stories website.
