Fentimans Botanically Brewed Beverages-Review

We were sent a crate of soft drinks from Fentimans to review!

Who are Fentimans?

In 1905, Thomas Fentiman, an iron puddler from Cleckheaton, England was approached by a fellow tradesman for a loan. A deal was struck and a recipe for botanically brewed ginger beer was provided as security. The loan was never repaid so Thomas became the owner of the unique recipe.

The world has changed a lot over 100 years since Thomas Fentiman founded the business and Fentimans have had to adapt to meet the demands of the modern world.

Over 100 years since Fentimans started brewing botanical drinks the business is still in the Fentimans family and is owned by the Great Grandson of Thomas Fentiman. They also continue to make their delicious natural beverages by the multi-stage botanical brewing technique. Their processes have been updated and their beverages are now carbonated before being filled and pasteurised to extend the product shelf life.
The one thing that has not changed is the superior quality and unsurpassed taste of the drinks.

What were we sent?

FentimansFentimans sent me a crate with a variety of soft drinks in!
Traditional Ginger Beer, Rose Lemonade, Sparkling Lime & Jasmine, Wild English Elderflower, Dandelion & Burdock, Curiosity Cola, Manderine & Seville Orange Jigger, Victorian Lemonade and Cherry Cola were in our selection (we were a little sad to not receive the Lemon Shandy).

I won’t go into the taste/favourites of our selection, but a couple of mentions are definitely needed!

The Curiosity Cola was incredible!  A fan of Cola anyway, this tasted just like Cola Bottle Sweets from my childhood!

The Rose Lemonade wasn’t like anything I’ve tasted before.  The rose taste is really prominent, and, although it wasn’t unpleasant, it did take me a few sips to get into enjoying it.

The only drink I found hard to enjoy was the Sparkling Lime & Jasmine.  I already knew I wouldn’t be sure on this one, I’m not a massive fan of Jasmine in drinks.  I did feel neither flavour was strong enough for my palate, but also I found it had a rather odd aftertaste I just couldn’t enjoy.

Regardless of the above, the selection was lovely, and, considering I hadn’t heard of Fentimans before receiving these, therefore being surprised at the length of time they’ve been trading, I feel they would be a pleasant addition to a summer garden party!
