Hunkemoller-Forever Pretty Perfume-Review

Ask anyone who knows me, what I own most varieties of-they’ll all say the same thing-perfume!

I’ve never been the type of girl that buys tons of shoes/bags/clothes, but I absolutely adore different scents of perfume.  Obviously I have my favourites, but I will always try new ones, and haven’t found one that I’ve disliked so far.

So when Hunkemoller sent me their ‘Forever Pretty’ perfume to review, I was a little excited. Continue reading

Naturelle Cosmetics ~ Royal Coffee Scrub – Review

I was sent a pack of Royal Coffee Scrub from Naturelle Cosmetics to review.

I’ll be honest, I’m one of life’s weirdos-I love the smell of coffee but hate the taste-so this product was perfect for me, being that you only really smell it, rather than ingest it.naturelle

Opening the packet, the scent of coffee was really edible-rich and strong, with a slight aroma of Ylang Ylang.

I personally use the scrub while in the bath or shower.  I find the more you get out of the packet, the messier it tends to be, so the bath or shower is ideal.  I apply the scrub to damp skin, leaving it a couple of seconds (I’m unsure if this has any real benefits but I like the smell), before scrubbing the granules around my skin then rinsing off.

Since using this scrub, I’ve genuinely noticed a massive, positive, effect on my skin-it’s brighter, softer, and less congested.  Prior to receiving and using this product, I’d used an oil sent to me by another company, which had left me really congested with so many breakouts but this product really seems to have helped.

On another positive note, the scrub is super cheap-priced at only £9.95, it is well worth the money-it’s long lasting and so easy to use.

You can buy it HERE and Naturelle Cosmetics have so many other varieties of scrubs and other products on offer, which I am sure are all as amazing as this one!

I was kindly sent this product in exchange for an honest review-any thoughts and opinions are my own.

Shadow Switch-Dry Brush Cleaner Review

I was sent this AMAZING new product from Beauty Essentials.
It’s called a Dry Brush Cleaner-and I’d be lying if I said I had any idea what that was or how to use it, IMG_8440prior to getting it sent to me.

It turns out, it’s not only super easy to use, but it’s so absolutely amazingly brilliant I couldn’t wait to review it!

The product itself is a little tin, the size of your palm, and imbedded inside is a black sponge with the cleaning product within it.

To clean your brush, you simply pop the bristles into the sponge, inside the tin, swirl it around a little bit and it’s clean!

So, the idea of it, is the ability to use several shades of eye-shadow on the same brush!

To test it out, I used a black eye-shadow, then cleaned the brush and added a white shade. There was no dark colour in the light, and the brush didn’t feel any different, or look damaged or coated in a product as is often the way with brush cleaners.  I was able to use the next shade immediately after cleaning the first shade off of the brush.

It’s also super easy to clean your Shadow Switch-just use warm water and fragrance free soap, then leave until completely dry.

Personally, the fact I can use the amount of shades I use in one make up sitting, with only one brush, is a massive time-saver in my busy ol’ life!
And, at only £5.99, it’s also so affordable and worth every penny!

You can buy your own one here-go do it-go do it now!!!!!

Missing:Female Solidarity

Not so long ago, I was verbally attacked from out of the blue, without provocation of the other person, via a well known social network.

The person attacking me?  A fellow woman.

Her words have played on my mind since I received the messages, not because I’m hurt by them, but because slowly, I’m losing my faith in womanhood and solidarity amongst other women.

Most days I find myself on the other end of a fellow females harsh words or opinions on my life choices, my appearance, the friends I choose, and even my past decisions or life choices!

I’m not going to go into detail about what was said, because I’ve come to realise, she doesn’t deserve the exposure.

Instead, I will say, to the women who feel the need to bring themselves down to a level so low, that they berate others for things that should never be used to define people, you have absolutely no place in the society I think we need.

Since dealing with people thinking they can throw hurtful comments around, I have noticed, slowly, but surely, the different cliques and groups of girls hating girls are having the tables turned by those they’re choosing as their “next victims”.

More and more I’m seeing, groups forming wherever I go, and the victims these people choose to take their issues out on, are forming their own groups.

These are not groups of people who want to take others down, but who plainly share their stories, who share their hurt and damage they’ve received from others.

If this is how life is to continue, if we’re to live knowing at any point we could be subjected to abuse and character assassinations, sometimes by people that don’t even know us, I will pin my hopes on the victims of these verbal attacks, taking over.  Not to do harm but to show how in the end, there is still female solidarity in the world.

I will bring my daughter up, exactly how I was brought up, being empowered by fellow human beings, especially strong, independent women, no matter what they wear, how they look, or what choices they decide to make with regards to their lives.

Women should empower women.

Women should support women.

Solidarity amongst women should never be jeopardised or squandered.

Please remember this blog, for the people it stands up for, and for the people it stands against.

Signing off,

One Woman

Eden’s Semilla-Vitamin C Serum & Hyaluronic Acid Serum Review

I was asked by Eden’s Semilla to review two of their serums. I have been using them for the last 12 days. I decided to get the best results and review them adequately I would use the vitamin c serum on the left side of my face and the hydraulic acid serum on the right side of my face.

The active ingredients in this serum are; Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Retinol, Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, Rosehip and Jojoba Oil.

Directions for use are; Apply a small amount to facial area and gently massage. Allow to fully absorb before application of other facial treatments.

There is also a caution section, which says to avoid contact with eyes or broken skin, and to keep out of reach of children. Also to store in a cool dry place.

Insert photo of acid serum with ingredients directions for use and caution.

On first appearances the serums look pretty similar.

Once on the skin however thereare some differences.

The vitamin A serum, is watery, therefore spreads quite thinly and easily, and the skin absorbs it much faster than usual serums. There’s no smell, which is something I always worry about when putting something super close to my nose-horrible smells!  There’s no shine, and my skin felt softer straight away on that side of my face.

The hyularanic(check spelling) acid is lots thicker so you need a bit more for more coverage but it still does spread quite easily. I found with this one, I assume because it’s thicker, takes longer to go into the skin, therefore leaving a slight shine and stickiness for a short while.

Things to report as days went by?ignore that I look shattered. Daughters birthday nothing to do with products.

Difference in skin in pics in a collage post. Do on laptop maybe.

If you had to choose one which would it be? Vitamin C because of the difference it immediately made in my skin.

Side effects?aside from burning eye.

Thank company for letting you test.

Why don’t you like me?
Is this a question I should be asking at 29 years old?

Shouldn’t I have all the friends I need and no issues with people at my age?!
I spent my whole childhood being bullied. Being told what was wrong with me, how ugly I was, how badly I dressed, how bad my hair was. When I left school, I assumed I would be free to start a new me, a me who is accepted, liked and wanted.

It would appear, however, things are not that simple.

Instead of starting a new better me, I’m a new worse me.

I HATE myself. Genuinely, I cannot bear who I am now.

I am more disliked by people than liked. I don’t know why. (I’d have a bloody good guess though!)

I change my hair, my make up, my clothes to attempt to fit in and look better. It doesn’t work.

I have massive insecurities and issues that I can’t change, and instead of people just taking me for my personality and who I am, I have those things held against me.
I drag myself to places where I know there’ll be people who I know have had negative conversations about me, but because I don’t know how to change people’s ideas of me, I just go along, knowing what they think, which ends up serving to bring my mood even lower.

Do you know what makes these situations harder?

The fact that none of you know me.

Just in case you were reading this thinking you do know me, even my closest friends have very little idea of what I think or how I feel most of the time.
Maybe you presume to know me because you’ve seen me twice a day for 20 minutes? Or because I see you once a year for special occasions? Maybe because I’m friends with someone you’re friends with, and you think because they bitch about me to you sometimes, that gives YOU the reason to dislike me by association?

Is it because I update my Facebook a lot, do you think you know me from that?

Or maybe it’s plainly because you’ve heard stuff about me, that you don’t care to be true or false, just that its detrimental to the idea of me, and therefore you MUST dislike me immensely.

I’ve been told so many times;

“Don’t worry about what others think of you.”

“Rise above it.”

“It says a lot more about them than it does you.”

I do worry. Day in day out. It consumes me.

I can’t rise above it. I try. But I can’t.

What does it say about them? To me it screams that they’ve made their minds up.  That I failed.
I’d love to end this blog with an inspiring message of “I won’t let you win”, or “I am who i am”.
But I can’t. I just can’t.

On days weeks when the dislike has been so constant and powerful, when the thoughts about others perceptions are so consuming and debilitating, I just can’t.

Rimmel Match Perfection Fix & Perfect Primer

I am the first to admit, I NEVER use primer.  Which does mean, unfortunately, I can only review this product, not base it on any others I’ve tried.

Rimmel describe this product as a primer that has a unique advanced formula which glides on smoothly, evening out skin, minimising pores, lasting all day. It says you can use it on its own or to even out complexion before using foundation.   It is also said to mattify skin and elimate shine.

I have far too many imperfections and blemishes to attempt the “use on its own” way.  So I used it to even out my complexion prior to using my foundation.

I have to say I could immediately see the pores around my nose being reduced, and it evened out any areas foundation would usually cling to.

It feels silky, not oily, and you don’t need a lot of it, making its price of £6.99, really good value for money.

Rimmel have hit a winner with this product and I’m giving it a firm 10/10!

Maybelline BB Cream

Maybelline Fondation Dream Pure BB Cream (light).

This is the first BB cream I’ve bought, after using a sample in a magazine, I loved how it felt on my skin.

I suffer from the worst type of skin in my opinion, “combination”. This means I get an oily forehead, and chin, and my t-zone can range from oily some days, to ridiculously dry other days, especially around the sides of my nose.  Most foundations stick and clog up the dry skin making it look like I’ve caked make up on.

Maybelline describes this product as a foundation that’s makes skin appear smoother, more even and hydrated.   It is oil free (helping those of us with oily skin) and has an SPF 15 rating.

Available in to shades-light or medium, I went for the light as most mediums tend to make me a tad orange!

I found applying it with my fingers as opposed to a brush or sponge actually gave me better coverage, as I was able to spread it further and into areas sponges and brushes wouldn’t have as great an effect.

The coverage is immediate. I don’t even have to wear concealer if I was only have small breakouts, (as it is I’m having the mother of all breakouts so concealer is very necessary), and it doesn’t feel, slippery, oily and like it won’t stay for the duration of the day, like some other foundations I’ve tried.

I’m giving this product a 9.5 out of 10, reason for the missing .5 is because I don’t think it’ll last as long as other foundations I’ve used, and at £6.99 it could be an expensive habit!
